Keeping TradeSimplr running.

Your options, what we recommend, and how to keep your systems trading — in plain English. You can start today.

You’ve bought an automated trading system — the only practical thing left to sort out is how to keep it running. Your TradeSimplr systems trade for you automatically, but only while MetaTrader 5 is open and connected to the internet. Here are your options, what happens with each, and exactly what we’d do ourselves.

Quick answer

Your own computer is probably fine if…

  • You’re still learning
  • You’re using a demo account
  • Your computer is usually on

A VPS is probably worth it if…

  • You travel, or work away from your desk
  • You switch your computer off regularly
  • You want round-the-clock continuity
  • You run multiple systems at once

Your options

How can I keep it running?

There are three common ways — and most people begin with the first.

Option 1

Your own computer

This suits anyone who’s at a computer during the day — working from home, running a business from a desk, or simply having the computer on through the trading day. You leave MetaTrader 5 open while the markets are active, and your systems trade as normal, at no extra cost.

Option 2

A VPS

A VPS is simply a computer that someone else keeps running for you, 24 hours a day. Instead of running on your own computer, it runs on theirs — one that never gets switched off — so your systems keep trading even when your own computer is asleep or shut down.

Around $10–$20 a month
Option 3

Multiple systems or accounts

Most customers start with a single system on a single account. Over time, some run CORE, EDGE and ACCELERATOR together, or keep a demo (test) account alongside a live one. As a setup grows, a VPS keeps everything running in one place.

What happens if I don’t use one?

Nothing breaks, and nothing is lost. Your systems trade exactly the same — a VPS doesn’t change how they work or how they perform. The only difference: without one, your systems can only trade while MetaTrader 5 is open and connected on your own computer. Switch the computer off and they simply pause, then carry on the moment it’s back.

Will I miss trades?

CORE is designed to be patient. Some months it may only take a handful of trades. Missing one doesn’t break anything, but it can mean missing a legitimate opportunity. If your computer happened to be off when one of those moments appeared, the system simply wouldn’t be there to take it. That’s why many people eventually choose a VPS — not because it improves performance, but because it improves continuity.

A VPS doesn’t make your systems trade better. It makes sure they’re always there to take the trades that do come.

What we’d honestly do

If it were us, we’d use a VPS from the beginning — not because it makes the trading any better, but because for around $10–$20 a month it removes the one real risk of running on your own computer: missing a trade while it’s switched off. Many customers start on their own computer while learning the platform and move across later. Both approaches work well — the difference is simply how much continuity you’d like from day one.

Which sounds like you?

  • “I work from a computer every day.” Your own computer is probably fine.
  • “I work shifts, travel, or turn my computer off overnight.” A VPS is probably worth it.
  • “I run CORE, EDGE and ACCELERATOR together.” A VPS is strongly recommended.
  • “I run a test account and a live account.” A VPS is the easiest way to keep it all running.

Not sure? Just ask.

Whatever your situation, you’re never expected to work this out alone. Tell us how you plan to use TradeSimplr — when your computer is usually on, whether you travel, and so on — and we’ll tell you honestly whether you need a VPS yet, and help you set it up if you do. We’d far rather answer the question than leave you guessing, and there are genuinely no stupid questions. Send a message →
